captaintemerity: (...what bombs at midnight)
Well, I got a suit.

Today turned into a much longer day than I'd anticipated, so my plan of yanking Corky down to Erin's work didn't happen (turned out she had today off anyways). Very late into the afternoon, she and I hit the "big" mall in Santa Rosa. They have an actual Suit section there, whereas her work has a corner with some suits in it (better than Coddingtown, mind you).

We found one that worked for both of us (meaning, I would actually wear it, and she would let me). I also went down a size from what we'd originally guessed, which, I know, doesn't mean squat, save that I love it. Of course, the real bastard of my body is not my stomach, which can apparently be worked around, but my shoulders, as I am rather broad in that area (chalk it up to a lot of swimming when I was young). My shoulders want the larger jacket, but the rest of me seems happier in the smaller. So I won't be lifting weights in the suit.

We also got a shirt and tie, which look nice. The suit is a black/gray stripe deal... not exactly pinstriping, but alternate thin stipes of the two shades. The shirt is more of a light purple... not quite lavender, but not violet either. Also sort've muted, so it works well with the gray. The tie is one of those things where it's diagnally striped with lines that are the exact same color as the shirt, and alternating shades of purple/gray with it. It all works very well together, and the salesman, who was very nice and helpfull, was impressed with Erin's eye in picking them out. She's now considering it as a new job possibility.

We also picked up some shoes. I did not find boots that Erin would let me wear with it, so we ended up with some Rockport wingtips as a compromise (since I can't wear the Doc wingtips as their the wrong color). Erin likes them a lot, actually, and wants to see me wear them with jeans. But then, she also wants to see me wear my Skull Vans with my suit. So there's give on both sides of that one.

I bought a pair of boxer briefs. They are an experiment, but I found the regular boxers with the suit a little too... free. On the other hand, I am accustomed to my freedom, as it were, so, like I said, experiment.

I still need a belt. I mean, I have one, and it's fine, but it's a work belt, and I'd like something new for the suit. Not work associated at all. And I need socks, which Erin said she'd get at work tomorrow.

We also got my hair colored and... well, not really cut. We paid for both, and I remember scissors, but I can't see how it's gotten any shorter. Mom said something about getting her hair done the morning of the wedding, and I'm thinking I may go along for a trim at the same time. I'm running out of time here. I need to get the suit tailored, and Macys wouldn't have been able to get it done in time, so we're looking at a place tomorrow. Just the sleeves of the jacket and the pants need to be hemmed. Nothing too attrocious, but still needs to be done soon. I have no more days off before I go, so I'm feeling a lot of pressure now.

I'm doing laundry, and just packing as I go. I still need to dig up a camera, maybe the video camera. Charge up the laptop and the MP3 player. Got the new Gameboy DS, but only really playing my Zelda game on it. It's a good thing my backpack says Best Buy on it, or the people at the airport would be looking at me pretty funny with all the electronics I'm going to be bringing on the plane.

Clothes are easy. Suit, 1 pair of jeans, a ton of t-shirts... pretty much all I own. Man, you spend $400 on clothes and you get one outfit... Now I know why I didn't own a suit before.

I also haven't eaten, and I'd like to now.
